Walking Dead will have Philippine Remake
MANILA – Walking Dead is a hit zombie series now on its season 5, caught the eyes of local viewers here in the Philippines. With it’s popularity a group of producers in the Philippines are looking into doing a remake of it locally.
The Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror drama television series developed by Frank Darabont. It is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. It stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma to find a post-apocalyptic world dominated by flesh-eating zombies. He sets out to find his family and encounters many other survivors along the way.
From an unreliable source, The Walking Dead series caught the eyes of internationally acclaimed director Erik Matti and producer Dondon Monteverde which is known for producing “On the Job” and “The Aswang Chronicles” are set to looking into possibilities of producing the hit series locally. There are also rumors that the group is looking into Baguio, Tagaytay and Clark – Angeles as possible on – location set of the series. If this will push through this will be the first time that Erik Matti will be doing a world class tele-novela that is definitely different to the usual fanta-serye and drama-serye that is popular in the country.
There are also rumors that the story will only be based from the US yet it will have its own set of local names for each character like Ramon Bautista as Chief Bakal and etc. Right now the local group is eyeing for Ding Dong Dantes and Shaina Magdayao to do the main roles, Ramon Bautista and Bogart to be doing main supporting roles. There are also plans that it will be somewhat crossed over to the upcoming movie The Aswang Chronicles Kubot that the group that is also producing for the coming Metro Manila Film Festival 2014.
